Florence Aubenas

Florence Aubenas is a French journalist who worked for the Nouvel Observateur. Before that, she worked for the left-liberal daily Libération. She was kidnapped in 2005 with her Arabic translator by Islamist hostage-takers in Iraq and was released after 157 days in captivity. Florence Aubenas has worked in war and crisis zones such as Rwanda, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. As a co-author, Florence Aubenas has written several books, such as on genocide in Rwanda, the mechanisms of the media market and globalisation. In February 2010, her experience report as a cleaning woman in France was published in book form in the style of Günter Wallraff. The book has quickly developed into a bestseller.
